I’ve used GeneratePress + Elementor to build websites for years.
GeneratePress has always been excellent, but I finally hit the wall with Elementor:
- Increasingly bloated and slow
- Changes often didn’t update on the front end (super frustrating)
- Fighting the editor to make simple text changes
- Mystery injection of oddball CSS when pasting
- Inconsistent support
- Responsive design headaches
- Inaccurate previews
Next up: GenerateBlocks. Better, but I could never get happy with the Gutenberg / blocks experience. Too clunky, unintuitive, and limited.
Bricks Builder
Then I discovered Bricks. It’s different and superior. Bricks offers a cohesive experience, eliminating conflicts between themes and page builders, and providing both speed and flexibility.
- Real-time preview in the same window
- No 3rd-party theme required (Bricks IS the theme and the builder)
- Unified editor for every part of the site (header, footer, nav, posts, etc)
- Significant built-in optimization
- Lightweight and fast
- Reduced need for plugins
- Beautiful UI
- Uses the Flexbox model (easier to align and distribute elements)
- Powerful reusable components
- True global styling

Extending Bricks
You can use Bricks out of the box, but if you need more functionality or templates, a robust community has developed around it, including these solutions:
Frames + ACSSĀ (both from Digital Gravy)
- Automatic CSS framework saves a lot of time
- Large library of drag and drop, high-conversion components and layouts (Frames)
- “Unopinionated” approach means you don’t have to undo other’s designs
Bricks Extras
- 70+ elements to extend the functionality of Bricks. Slider, modal, notification bar, content timeline, hotspots, etc.
